Class Descriptions

           Participating in martial arts will help develop coordination, balance, concentration, and for the younger children, motor skills. Whether you choose martial arts as a form of exercise or self defense, Youn Wha Masters offers several classes to fit your needs.

 

           What sets us apart from so many sports who only practice once a week, is with your paid membership, you may attend and train in as many classes a week as you wish

 

Little Ninja’s:

            Offered for children 3-5 years old. This program is designed to work with small children on their motor skills, balance, focus, and having fun! Despite that they are still very young, this is a wonderful introduction into a class setting and accepting discipline and instruction from adults other than parents.  We work with them twice a week teaching warm up drills, stances, punches, and basic white belt kicks. This class is a pre-cursor to the white belt class, and is great preparation for taking the next step!

 


 

Children's White Belt Classes:

            This class is a beginner class for the 6-12 years old age group. The focus of their training is on the basic building blocks that are incorporated into everything you do as a martial artist.

 

 

Children's Yellow, Green, Blue, Red, Brown, Black Classes:

            As students progress in their training, each level focuses on techniques and skills needed to advance to the next belt.  Students will have the opportunity for instruction within each class at their rank to gain the knowledge and skills to be prepared for their testing.

 

 

Advanced Classes:

            Students at the advanced level (red belt and above) have the opportunity to train at a higher level and meet new challenges.

 

 

Adult Classes:

            Offered for ages 13 and above, adults are given the opportunity to work towards gaining their belts from white through black. 

 

 

Family Classes:

            Because so many of our students are families who train at our school, family classes enable adults AND youth to train in the same class.  This is very helpful for parents on a tight schedule who can get training completed for the entire family at one time.

 

 

Sparring Classes:

            Sparring is required starting at the yellow belt. Students wear full protective gear. Yellow belts begin with exchange sparring, while green belts and above engage in LIGHT free sparring.

 

 

Youn Wha Self Defense:

            This is a self defense class that shows how to protect yourself if being attacked in certain ways (grabbed by the hand, choked, head lock, bear hugs, being punched/kicked). Many of these can be altered to simulate being attacked with a knife or gun.  Individuals who are not members of our school are welcome to attend these classes for a fee of $10/session to gain self defense skills.
